Three days to chill and grill!
This week's market falls after the Fourth of July, but who says cookouts have to be limited to one special day on the calendar? These smoky, salty Yakitori-style salmon skewers are sure to satisfy at a languid Sunday barbecue, and the savory-sweet basting sauce is a delicious marinade for anything else you want to throw on the grill. Plus, you can cook up as many vegetables as you want alongside them and use leftovers in a salad, over rice, or between two slices of ciabatta for a quick sandwich the next day.
For an herb-packed side that might just steal the show, try revamping an old classic with this mayonnaise-free herbed potato salad. Crispy red fingerling potatoes from Madura Farm shine with creamy tahini, leafy dill, and zesty jalapeños from Halal Pastures Farm. And like any good cookout meal, it only gets better with extra time to marinate in the fridge. This will be your new favorite recipe!
We are thrilled to welcome a new vendor to the plaza this week: Sugar Shack Creamery. They are a goat-milk creamery and also produce maple syrup as their name suggests, but their maple products won't be ready until the fall. Until then, you can expect creamy and naturally sweet goat milk and goat-milk yogurt, drinkable yogurts (their maple flavored drinkable yogurt knocked my proverbial socks off) and spreadable chèvre cheese, including one with fig jam. We're so excited to have them here. If you think you don't like goat milk, please do yourself a favor and try theirs. They are generous with their samples because they know you will be hooked. And for dessert, try pitting and baking juicy apricots from Caradonna Farm into a buttery apricot pie. It's all of summer's sweetness in one gorgeous dessert! Top with a dollop of White Moustache yogurt or creamy yogurt from Sugar Shack Creamery.
Milton will play from 10:30-12:30, so make sure to stop by to dance, lounge, or enjoy a market lunch during their set.
