Come to our holiday market this Sunday!.

I hope you had a restful few weeks and are excited to get back to the market this Sunday. I’m certainly looking forward to picking up some fresh produce, because I’ve made a few dishes recently that are practically begging for a “do-over” with fresh, local veggies from our farms.

Speaking of farms, we are thrilled to have Sun Sprout Farm join us this Sunday and for the entire winter season.

Owners Simon and Madeleine implement sustainable farming practices to grow beautiful produce on New York’s fertile black dirt. A harvest kale caesar salad with baby bagged kale from Sun Sprout and apples from Caradonna Farm would be absolutely delicious, or you could use those leafy greens alongside chicken from R&M Farm in one my winter go-to soups: immune-boosting soup with ginger and turmeric.

One of my recent favorites is a take on this winter bliss bowl, which just calls for roasted veggies and wholesome grains like farro or quinoa to rest them on. (Tip: roasted beets are even more delicious when cooked with wintry herbs like sage, rosemary, or thyme and served with a balsamic glaze.) I also love to add hummus to my bowl, and the rotating market specials from AYA Hummus are distinctly delicious.

Boogie Down Bronx Honey will also be joining us this winter and just in time! I always find I go through honey quickly when it gets cold because I make so much tea. (Speaking of which, their local honey would complement any tea from Teagevity wonderfully. And what a perfectly easy gift that pairing would make!) You can also use their honey to provide some extra sweetness next to broccoli from Madura Farm in this spicy honey chicken with broccoli.

We’re thrilled to welcome White Moustache, fantastic Persian-style yogurt are made with farm-fresh milk and live culture, and Second Mouse Cheese, whose whose vast array of Hudson Valley cheeses are perfect for your holiday charcuterie boards, sidling up next to Cooperstown Cheese, of course. I highly recommend that you grab some seasoned, ready-to-eat lentil snacks to snack on  from The Lentil Project while you mozy around the market! For a quick weeknight dinner you can't beat their mung lentil soup/stew in a Mason jar. All you need is a tomato or two to prepare this hearty soup for your family and it's truly delicious...especially with a dollop of labneh from White Moustache on top!

Lastly, we’ve got some incredible craftspeople coming to the market this Sunday to help you with your gift giving this year. You can pick up gorgeous handmade ceramics and jewelry from Mermud Studio, cozy knitwear from Pinmillmade Knits, a variety of one-of-a-kind textiles (including aprons made from vintage fabric) from Ztudio Zsa Zsa, and lovely embroidered gifts from Mermade Brooklyn. Also, The Copper Faucet has lovely soaps, candles and diffusers and Ici et La Creations has fun and festive fabric bowl covers, snack and sandwich bags and pouches for travel. You’re set!

There’s so much to see at IFM this week, and we can’t wait to see you there
