Our green team!

What better way to wrap up Earth Month than with a trip to the farmers market? We want to thank the volunteers with our Green Policy Task Force for running IFM's compost initiative, selling biodegradable bags, and always brainstorming ways to make the market greener. It takes a village, after all!

If Titusville Farm still has pullet eggs, which are laid by young chickens and retain an extra rich flavor, you should try baking them into crispy rice with dill! More than just rice and herbs, this easy weeknight meal packs in tons of flavor with protein-rich beans and is easy to dress up with additional herbs and cheeses as you see fit. For another surprisingly filling crowd pleaser, chopped Swiss chard from Madura Farm shines with its crunchy stems and soft, leafy greens in this beer garden-inspired salad. With savory sausages from Letterbox Farm, sharp, creamy cheese from Aux Bons Fromages, and sourdough croutons from Wave Hill Breads, this salad is an excellent addition to an early Spring table.

For dessert, keep it simple! Apple compote is a warmly spiced sweet treat that's perfect for filling crêpes, heaping on ice cream, or just eating by the spoonful. Remember to visit Matt at Ready, Set, Sharp! before cutting the apples you choose from Caradonna Farm!

Villa Emilia Empanadas and Kinwich Sandwich Truck will be serving brunch at the market alongside our weekly prepared food vendors this Sunday, so make sure to come hungry!

And, of course, don't forget to buy head-turning tulips from Titusville Farm. They get prettier and prettier as they open and even when they wane, they look artful.

And, on an “another market” note. Today is the inaugural market for Wickers Creek Market, a vintage and antiques goods flea launching Sunday, April 27 at the Dobbs Ferry Waterfront Park. The market runs 10 to 4  p.m. so you have PLENTY of time to get your market shop in and then head on over to Dobbs. Should be a fun day! You can read all about here.
