Let the grilling season begin…

It seems like we were braving snowy winter markets just yesterday, and Memorial Day is already upon us! It's time to serve up some bright, seasonal dishes to welcome summer with open arms. We're certainly ready - despite this week's cold and rain.

From the cheddar bratwursts at Goode and Local to grass-fed beef burgers at FarmEats or even briny sea bass from Pura Vida Fishery, the grill aficionados among us have plenty of protein options to choose from. It's way too early for local zucchini and peppers on the grill so, adapt to the season, and pick up some beautiful carrots from Titusville Farm to grill. Fresh Mint and avocado do a great job of offsetting the carrots' charred sweetness, but you could easily nestle them in a fresh spring salad as well.

This colorful French tuna salad sandwich uses all kinds of springtime veggies and is sure to leave diners wanting more. A variation of the salade Niçoise, this gorgeous sandwich lends extra flavor, from savory olive oil, garlic, and onions, to a crusty baguette from Bien Cuit. You won't want to attend a cookout without it from here on out! Prefer your Niçoise in salad form? This Saveur recipe will satisfy. Such an easy dish for an impromptu gathering.

This week's cold dip has many craving soup instead of salad. This velvety spinach and dill soup from Food and Wine could scratch that itch seasonally.

Hosting this weekend? Carpe diem on the rhubarb and make this browned butter rhubarb crispMadura Farm's rhubarb lends this classic springtime dessert both a radiant color and a juicy tartness that'll have you returning for seconds and thirds. It's easy to make and enjoy through the beginning of summer, so grab it while it's in season - now through mid to late June.

Are you hooked on Ash Hopper Botanical skincare? Stock up this week! And don't forget to grab a bag of bath salts while you're there.

Are you hooked on Wild Radish's organic soups and salads? Wild Radish is now offering weekly meal delivery and a new selection of vegan jerky, which is perfect for anyone who has trouble finding a satisfying plant-based snack (been there!).

Colin McGrath and Lexy Casano are our musical guests this week! Pull up a chair and enjoy some award-winning songwriting with your favorite market lunch.

This is our last “winter/spring” market. On June 1st, next Sunday, we open weekly and our summer hours will change from 9:30 to 1 (this week) to 9 a.m. to 1:30. An extra hour of market shopping starting nextSunday.
